The women in the Mar Thoma church also shared the spiritual power generated by the Reformation. The Mar Thoma Suvisesha Sevika Sanghom the women’s wing, was inaugurated during the Maramon Convention in the year 1919, under the leadership of Abraham Mar Thoma Suffragan Metropolitan., who gave the Sanghom continued support and inspiration Every women of the Mar Thoma Church above the age of 18 years is a member of the Sevika sanghom. The Sevika Sanghom follows the pattern of the Mar Thoma Church in the organizational matters. The need for empowering and educating women workers was realised early. The Vanitha Mandiram, the Bible school run by the Sevika Sanghom was established in 1925 at the headquarters of the Sanghom.

Along with evangelism, the work of bringing relief to the needy. Medical work also was started to serve the poor in the sea coast area of cheriazhical, near Karthikappally and at Puthuppally near Kayamkulam. Educational work was undertaken in 1950 at Punalur and at Kottarakkara. 3 Hostels for working women in Kottarakkara, Thiruvalla. And Erimayoor near Palakkad are there.

Thane Mar Thoma Sevika Sangham have about 131 Subscribing members. Our Sevika Sangham is very active conducting regular meetings held on 2nd and4th Saturdays. Sangham members participate in various activities held at Thane Parish, Kalyan Center and Mumbai Diocesan levels. Every year 2nd Sunday of September is being celebrated as Sevika Sangham Day. Auctions are conducted on this day by ladies bringing home made foods, items prepared by them and the money collected by this Auction is distributed for educational and medical aid. There were joint meeting of members of our Parish and St John MTC Wagle Estate at respective parishes as a part of Sevika Sangham Vaara program in the year 2014. We organize regular fasting prayers on Fridays and offertory are donated to Good Samaritan Fund. During the lent season our members conduct chain prayers. Our members regularly visits the old and sick members of our parish and spends time with them. We extended financial support to Dayaniketan Girls Hostel Nalasopara, Girls Hostel Vapi, Navodaya Movement Kalyan and to other eligible people and institutions.
